  1. Sierra magazine, the mag of the Sierra Club, has got an awesome feature in its current issue about dumpster diving.

One person’s trash is another person’s treasure, for certain.

  2. Oh, I know you’ve always wondered. That mysterious Slinky, how does it move?

You’re gonna win a trivia contest someday with this piece of knowledge, I can feel it.

    TRUTH!

  4. This is Devon Crosby-Helms as she was preparing to drop from the World 100km Championship in the Netherlands a few weeks ago. If I can correctly summarize, it seems the early symptoms of food poisoning were making her feel terrible.
I love this photo so much. Not because Devon’s suffering, not at all. I don’t wish that on her or anyone.
I love this photo because it’s so revealing of what the sport of ultrarunning is all about. This sport is all heart, and soul, and pushing oneself and others to their best, and joy, and pain, and teamwork, and sometimes failure, and so much success.

  5. This is Junebug the Border Collie. If you’ve been following along, you’ll know her as my almost-13-year-old girl. Though she used to run everywhere with me, she’s pretty arthritic and tired. And just plain old.
But, once in a while, like last week, she gets a little giddy-up in her step that makes my heart melt. Bryon Powell took this photo and caught her moment of kid-hood.

  8. Oh lordy, I don’t know this guy, but something about this blog piece makes me think I very much would.

If you’ve ever had to put a Big One down in the Big Outdoors, you’ll enjoy this.

  9. This elderly couple makes me giggle and hope I’m as goofy as them someday.

  10. Oh hearts, here’s some awesome long-form reading for those of you who like sports and/or who attach meaning to pieces of sporting equipment.
